They Fight To Honour. In the early morning of June 6th, 1944 the largest invading force in the history of modern warfare landed on the beaches of Normandy and changed the course of history forever. Now, more than 60 years later in rural North Eastern Oklahoma, the battle for Normandy is about to be fought again... but this time, the Germans might win.
Every June, over 5,000 participants arrive from all over the globe to participate in the largest paintball event in the world. With battle hardened expressions and dressed in impeccable WWII uniforms these weekend warriors strive to bring as much authenticity to the historical beach landing - no easy task when youʼre nowhere near an ocean, tanks are made of pots & pans and your bullets are replaced with paint!
"A lot of us come here to honour those people who fought for our freedom... so we would have the freedom to play paintball" Psycho, Commander of the Allied Forces.
"Soldiers of Paint" steps into the lives of several of these particitipants to get an up-close and person glimpse into what they do to strive to win in the battle of Normandy each year. Bolstered by intense and riveting footage captured by 11 cameramen embedded in battle, the film shows how each side's dedication to winning both strengths and threatens friendships but ultimately creates an inspirational community that defies stereotypes, honors, veterans, bonds families and educates the youth of today.
